Norwich is an early-stage cluster, exhibiting growing strengths in digital advertising & marketing as well as telecommunications & networking.
On 11 February 2016, Tech City UK released its latest #TechNation report on the health of the UK’s digital technology sector. Using data gathered by the innovation charity NESTA and analysed by predictive marketing agency GrowthIntel, it identified the 27 most dynamic tech clusters in the UK. We were delighted to see Norwich featured for the second year running – particularly since this was again down to coordinated action by the local tech community.
Norwich’s leading benefit, however, is its access to talent. The area has the third highest concentration of science and research parks in the country and two leading universities.
Back in September 2015, that community rallied round to raise awareness of the latest TechNation survey, ensuring maximum participation. This support was clear in the TechNation chart showing the 135 official Community Partners. Look carefully and you’ll see that 11 (including, we’re proud to say, Business Writers Ltd) are from Norfolk and a total of 16 (12%) are in The East.
We were also pleased to see the report giving special mention to the community groups that make Norwich such a great place to work. These include Hot Source, which we are pleased to sponsor and co-organise. If you want to get more involved with the local tech and digital creative scene, these are the groups to join.
New blog on @LinkedInPulse – 21 reasons to #startup in #Norwich
To celebrate the success the #TechEast community (Ipswich made the report too), we have a longer LinkedIn post on the benefits of locating your business in Norfolk. Please take a look – add more reasons in the comments – and share with your social media network. The more we can encourage inward investment, the more opportunities we’ll create for talented young people in our community. Remember – we’re stronger together.
UPDATE: New #TechNation Survey for 2017
@TechCityUK has now launched a new survey to identify the UK’s top tech clusters in 2017. Please complete it now. It will take you less than 7-minutes – and your company might even feature as a case study.
