Who we are
Our website address (you should know this as you are looking at it) is: http://www.business-writers.co.uk.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site it collects data shown in comments form, visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Please note: Business Writers Limited does not look at or use this data for any other purposes.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to Gravatar to see if you are using its service. Gravatar’s Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture will be publicly visible in relation to your comment.
Media
Don’t try to upload images to our website, particularly those with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can download and extract any location data from such images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again if you leave another comment. Cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, the system will automatically set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
If you log in (not sure why you would, so please don’t try), this system will set up cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles linked to from this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly as if you visited that other website.
Other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who your data is shared with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We don’t collect your data or knowingly share it with anyone (WordPress and JetPack might collect such data for their own purposes).
How long is your data retained
If you leave a comment, your comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments, although all comments will be held for manual moderation.
Users that register on our website (if any) automatically chose to store their personal information in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (but cannot change their username). Website administrators can apparently also see and edit that information (though it’s not something we do).
What rights you have over your data
If for some weird reason you have an account on this site (you should not have unless you are me), or have left comments, you can ask for any personal data to be deleted (although we don’t knowingly collect such data, never refer to it and don’t use it for any business purposes). This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
We use Akismet Anti-Spam as part of Jetpack. Apparently this collects some information about visitors who comment our site. That information typically might include commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL (along with other information directly and deliberately provided by commenters such as name, username, email address, and comment itself).
We have turned off comments so you don’t have to worry about this. If you have any comments to make, please just tag Huw Sayer on LinkedIn. Thank you.
